Vision
We gather for church worship services at Powell Chapel as an Indian/Telugu congregation in Richmond. Our deep desire is to serve the spiritual needs of Indian / Telugu believers and their families. As part of the Language Ministries of Second Baptist Church, we are committed to being a beacon of God’s love and ministry to the Indian diaspora in Richmond, VA.
We envision a community where the love of Christ reaches all people, inviting them to celebrate God’s goodness and grace, and fostering a spirit of unity and faith.
Mission
Our mission is to offer comprehensive pastoral care and counseling, ministering to children, young adults, and families. We seek to nurture spiritual growth through weekly Bible studies, prayer gatherings, personalized care for each believer, and active involvement in missional and community outreach.
Whether you are a resident or visiting Richmond, we warmly welcome you to join us in worship and fellowship. Please feel free to connect with us by phone or email—we would love to connect with you and share in the joy of Christian fellowship and love of Christ.
Rev. Paul K. Nalla
Pastor, Telugu Language Ministry
Paul is from Telangana state of Southern India. His parents are Baptist Ministers, serving among the socially and economically impoverished communities in Telangana, India for the past 45 years. Paul earned his Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.) and Master of Theology (M.Th.) from the Senate of Serampore University, India, and later obtained a Th.M. from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, VA, USA. Ordained to the work of Gospel Ministry by the Telangana Baptist Convention, Paul served in Telugu Baptist Churches across India before relocating to the United States. He was a part of the pastoral team at Centenary Baptist Church in Secunderabad, the first Baptist Church in Telangana.
Paul’s journey of faith and ministry is shared with his wife, Deepthi, who is also pursuing theological studies at Union Presbyterian Seminary. Together, they share a profound calling for theological education and pastoral ministry.
In addition to his pastoral work, Paul is a self-taught artist who delves into theological themes through a unique blend of abstract, symbolic, and nature-inspired art. His work seeks to visually express the connections between theology, art, and spirituality.
At Second Baptist Church, Paul is dedicated to ministering to the spiritual needs of Telugu-speaking families and the Indian diaspora in Richmond, VA. He is committed to reaching out with the love of Christ, inviting all to celebrate God’s goodness, love, and grace.
